Patti Smith: Another Artist To Create Musical Tribute To Amy Winehouse!!!!

It’s good to hear that Patti Smith has written a song about Amy Winehouse. The ‘Because the Night’ hitmaker has wrote a musical tribute to Amy Winehouse. It was said that Patti Smith has penned a poem in ode to the British singer following her death in July last year. That was originated as a poem and set the words to music for a track which will appear on her forthcoming new album.

Patti Smith revealed that the little song for Amy was just blossomed in their studio. They were at New York recording studio, Electric Lady was doing a whole other song and Patti wrote Amy a little poem when she died and her bass player, Tony Shanahan, wrote a piece of music and the two were perfectly matched and this is how they came with the song.
And they wrote a very nice little song for Amy Winehouse and Patti thought a beautiful song for Maria Schneider, the actress who was a friend of her in the ‘70s. And she further admitted that it was just happened, like gifts. It is also known that Patti wasn’t the only artist to create a musical tribute to Amy. In August, Green Day revealed a track that makes references to the ‘Rehab’ hitmaker’s troubled life up to her unexpected death on July 23 at a secret show in California.

When talking about the lyrics of this song that was posted on the band’s official website, the opening lines were;
“Amy, is your heart singing out of tune
Are your eyes just singing the blues
Dirty records from another time
Some blood stains on your shoes.”

 The last part of the track laments Amy’s premature death at the age of 27, as well as the drug and alcohol addictions which had plagued the star throughout since 2006. It means that,
“You’re too young for the golden age
Cause the record bin’s been replaced
27 gone without a trace
And you walked away from your drink.”
In addition, M.I.A., Coldplay and Dionne Bromfield have all dedicated tracks or dedicated parts of their live shows to the star.
